The Top Ten Habits of Successful Sales Professionals

1. Top salespeople know that it’s important to look sharp and speak well, especially in the first 7 seconds of talking or meeting a prospects or customers, because that’s how they will be remembered.

2. Successful sales professionals are enthusiastic because people want to associate with others who are enthusiastic and who have an overall positive attitude.

3. The best sales professionals ask plenty of quality questions to thoroughly figure out their clients’ buying needs.

4. When top salespeople hear important information–during, for instance, a meeting with a decision maker about a sale–they take notes.

5. Successful sales professionals use time wisely. They formulate a clear plan, a daily routine, schedule and confirm appointments, and finish what they started.

6. When top salespeople make promises, they keep their commitments, reinforcing to clients that they can be trusted. (Under Promise – Over Deliver)

7. Top salespeople know everything there is to know about their products and their competitors. But, above all, they know their customers’ needs.

8. The best salespeople don’t shy away from criticism or become defensive when they encounter a complaining customer. They see it as an opportunity!

9. Rather than give up, the top-performing salespeople concentrate on all the reasons they can succeed.

10. Top salespeople are creative and find possibilities where other people quit. They think strategically about each situation. Getting told ‘NO’ by a prospect isn’t the end for enthusiastic salespeople; it is just the beginning.
